Acacia Edge Glued Panels & Worktops *** DISCONTINUED PRODUCT ***

Acacia panel (1-layer full length staves)Acacia is a distinctive tree widely distributed in south eastern Australia & Tasmania, and has been more valued for horticultural uses than for its timber in the past.

Acacia wood ranges from very pale pink/yellow through to a light honey colour, and light silver bands sometimes appear in the grain, darkening to a red/honey colour when finished. Depending on the cut of the lumber these bands can provide an attractive and marked feature, while steaming the wood causes it to turn a dark chocolate colour.

The grain is usually straight but sometimes interlocked, with an even texture. Acacia wood is fairly tough and when planed and dressed it produces a very smooth surface for furniture and polishes well, and these tones mean it is in increasing demand for furniture designers and manufacturers.

Finger jointed acacia panels are regularly used as acacia worktops, and in the manufacture of all types of furniture.
