American Walnut Edge Glued Panels & Worktops

American walnut panel (finger jointed)The tree is widely distributed throughout North America from south Ontario southward to Texas, and in the east from Maine to Florida.

While American Walnut sapwood, which is usually narrow, is whitish to pale yellowish brown in colour, it is a common practice to steam or stain log so the sapwood is a closer match in colour to that of the heartwood, which varies in colour from light greyish brown, through rich chocolate-brown to a purplish-black. The grain is slightly open and usually straight, but may be wavy or irregular, while the texture is usually coarse, but uniform.

American Walnut is moderately hard, tough, strong and is easily worked. It finishes well and takes an excellent polish, being well-suited to natural finishes, and weighs about 660 kg/m³ when dried.

Because of its good properties and interesting grain pattern, American Black Walnut is much valued for furniture, architectural woodwork, and decorative panels.

Both full length and finger jointed American walnut panels are available for use as worktops, and in the manufacture of all types of furniture.
