Cherry Edge Glued Panels & Worktops

European cherry panelGrowing in Europe including the British Isles, Cherry occurs from Scandinavia and south-west Russia southwards, and is found in western Asia and the mountains of North Africa. Currently, the main source of this wood is France.

European Cherry heartwood is warm and reddish orange to pale pinkish-brown in colour, and fairly well defined from the lighter coloured sapwood. It often has slight green streaks, and becomed more and attractive and warmer in colour over time.

The wood has a fairly fine, even texture, and is generally straight grained. It weighs about 630kg/m³ when dried.

A tough timber, European cherry's strength properties are similar to those of oak. Straight grained material works & finishes particularly well. Because of its texture and pores, European Cherry is excellently suited for polishing.

Both full length and finger jointed cherry panels are regularly used as cherry worktops, and in the manufacture of all types of furniture.
