Fire Retardant Plywood
100% flame retardant Throughout Plywood:
Designed to be used wherever fire protection is the first priority (e.g interior finishes for public
buildings, boat & yacht building, the automotive industry, exhibition stands, etc), these fire-retardant
plywood panels can be supplied in accordance with many different standards, such as European norm BS
EN 13501 Class B-s2,d0. They are very different to the fire treated plywood usually available, due to
the special manufacturing process used make them flame-retardant.
Plywood is usually passed through a treatment process as a secondary operation after it has already been produced in order to obtain a fire-retardant plywood panel. By the very nature of this production method the chemicals cannot be guaranteed to penetrate every fibre of the wood.
In contrast, the veneers used to make these panels are treated individually prior to being assembled into the combination required, and then pressed into the finished flame-retardant plywood. As a result of this process the fireproofing chemicals are able to penetrate every fibre, making this plywood 100% fire-resistant from its edges, right to the centre of the very middle veneer of the core.
Fire-retardant plywood produced to order:
These fire-resistant plywoods are most often required as some form of beech plywood. However, they can also be supplied as ash plywood, fir plywood, or poplar plywood, or even produced to a specific layup using a mixture of these woods in any combination and/or orientation. For instance, these plywood panels can be supplied with unidirectional veneers - each veneer laid with its grain in the same direction as the rest - or with a core of contrasting colours to give a decorative finish to the edge.
This flexibility in the production give you the opportunity to use a fire-resistant, decorative plywood product that has been manufactured exactly to your requirements.
Fire Resistant Acoustic Plywood
In addition to standard plywood contruction, these woods can be combined with a sound-reducing layer within the core, to offer a panel that offers the same decorative and fire performance characteristics, whilst also reducing the transmission of sound, certificated to DIN 4102-B1.
