Afrormosia Veneer
Afrormosia
is also known as Kokrodua and Assamela. It is found in West Africa, but mainly Ghana
and the Ivory Coast, and is gregarious, growing in both wet and dry areas.
Afrormosia sapwood is lighter in colour and clearly demarcated from the heartwood, which is yellow brown turning to a dark brown on exposure
Afrormosia veneer has a grain that is straight to interlocked and texture moderately fine.
The wood strongly resembles teak in appearance, and is sometimes used as an alternative, but lacks its oily nature and has a different texture.
