Koto Veneer
Also called Antiaris, Chen Chen, Kyere, Awari, Okyere, Poroposo, Kefe and White
Sapele, Koto is common in tropical
evergreen and mixed deciduous forests of West Africa.
Both the sapwood and heartwood of Koto are creamy-white to pale yellow with a greyish tint and the wood has high rays which produces a distinct flecked figure on Quarter Cut Veneers.
The grain of Koto veneer is typically straight or shallowly interlocked, usually with small knot clusters and the texture is typically fairly coarse.
