Laurel is also called Taukkyan, Sadar, Matti, Asan, Marda and is widely distributed
in India and Burma.
Indian Laurel sapwood is reddish white and sharply differentiated from the heartwood, which varies from light brown with few markings to dark brown or brownish black and figured with darker streaks
The grain of Indian Laurel veneer is fairly straight and the texture coarse. The wood is dull to somewhat lustrous and without characteristic odour.
