Ramin Veneer
Ramin
is also known as Melawis, Garu Buaja and Lanutan-Bagio. It is found in peat
swamp forests of Malaysia through parts of Sumatra, west coast of Borneo, and the
Philippines.
The sapwood of Ramin is not differentiated from the heartwood, which is creamy white, the color of pale straw, yellow, or whitish.
The grain is straight or shallowly interlocked, and the texture is fairly fine and even.
Ramin veneer is without figure or lustre and finishes well.
