Steamed Beech Veneer
Beech can
be found all over Europe and is one of the most frequent and important European
species.
The sapwood is difficult to distinguish from the heartwood, which can both be whitish (sometimes with a reddish hue), reddish-brown, and often brown in older trees. Dark stains and mineral streaks occur frequently and reduce the value of the wood and are graded out for constructional or non-decorative work.
Beech is typically straight, and has a fine and even texture. Any type of surface finish can be applied to Beech and it takes stains and lacquers very well.
Beech can be steamed, which evens and regularises the colour to a slight pink or rose colour. It is therefore available as White Beech or Steamed Beech.
