Black Dyed Veneered Panels & Jointed Veneer
Black Dyed Veneer was manufactured as a more readily available alternative to achieve the stereotypical black colour of ebony and similar woods, which were becoming increasingly rare and therefore difficult to source.
To avoid depleting the worlds stocks of these exotic and rare woods and offer a cost-effective alternative, a readily available abundant specie is dyed to obtain a black finish, while retaining the grain texture and effect of real wood.
The dye is not a surface coating like paint, but physically alters the veneer colour throughout the full thickness of Black Dyed Veneer. This allows it to be sanded after it has been bonded to the substrate without risk of losing its colour, thus offering a full and direct substitute to the exotic woods it replaces.
