Makore Veneered Panels & Jointed Veneer

View Makore veneered panels & doors in full size

Makore is also called Baku, Douka and Ukola, and found from Sierra Leone to Cameroon, Gabon, and south to Cabinda. It is widely distributed in the high rain forests.

Makore sapwood is whitish or pale pink in colour, and is clearly differentiated from the heartwood, which varies from pink or light reddish-brown to a rich red brown, sometimes with a greyish tinge.

The grain of Makore veneer is generally straight, but may be interlocked, which displays an attractive mottled or moire figure, with occasional dark streaks. The texture ranges fine to very fine and the wood is lustrous.
